WAPgallery Trial v1.1.1
==========================
(C) Community Mobile 2005

Thank you for choosing WAPgallery Trial Edition.

This software is designed to be installed on a web server capable of processing PHP files
(these files end with the .php extension) and with access to a MySQL database.

Before installing, we recommend you to take a look at the System Requirements.

System Requirements
-------------------

Script Type : PHP Server Side Scripting

Operating System : Linux or Windows Server

Web Server : Apache (recommended*) or IIS

PHP Version : PHP 4.2 or above

PHP Configuration : GD 1.6.2*

File compatibility : JPEG picture files (*.jpg)

Database : MySQL

Local machine : Requires a Zip extraction utility to unzip the download file

* GD library is required for picture resizing to optimise the pictures seen on differing
devices

* Fancy URLs are only supported on Apache servers. If you are not using an Apache server,
please go to Edit Settings in the Control Panel and disable slash-separated URLs. To use fancy
URLs you must configure the .htaccess file provided - see step 6 below.

Installation Guide
------------------

1. Unzip the WAPgallery distribution ZIP file (wapgallerytrial.zip) on your computer.

2. This will create a folder called 'wapgallery', containing other files and folders.

3. Find the folder called 'rawpics' inside the 'wapgallery' folder. This folder contains some
pictures you can use for testing, or you can delete these and replace them with your own.
You should place the pictures for your gallery in this folder. These pictures must
be JPEG format (the file names must end with .jpg)

TIP: Organise the pictures within folders and subfolders, and WAPgallery will automatically
structure your gallery for you during installation!
TIP: Give your picture files and folders meaningful names (e.g. Waterfall.jpg) and WAPgallery
will use these to identify your pictures and picture collections in the gallery.
TIP: If your pictures are larger than 200 pixels in both width and height, resize them
so that the smaller dimension is 200 pixels (e.g. 200 wide and 250 high). This will
minimise the time to upload the pictures and the space usage on your server.

4. Upload the entire 'wapgallery' folder to your website under your domain name.

		Example : http://www.mydomain.com/wapgallery/

ADVANCED USERS: We recommend you set up a subdomain to point to WAPgallery, e.g.
wap.your_domain_name.com Your ISP can help you to do this.

5. For Linux system, set the permission for all uploaded files to Read, Write,
Execute for all parties using the following command:

Linux command example : chmod 777 dirname

where dirname is the name of each directory that needs to be modified. (This can
also be accomplished using most FTP packages)

6. To access the Set-Up Wizard, visit the above directory URL with your web browser.

		Example : http://www.mydomain.com/wapgallery
            or http://wap.mydomain.com/

Follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard. You will need the license
key that was emailed to you during the purchase process.

7. Once the installation is complete, you can administer the site using the Control Panel.
You can access this by visiting the admin directory with your web browser.

		Example : http://www.mydomain.com/wapgallery/admin
            or http://wap.mydomain.com/admin

TIP: For security, we recommend you password protect access to the
admin directory. Your ISP can help you do this if you do not know how to.

8. APACHE USERS: If you have installed WAPgallery on an Apache server, you can enable
fancy URLs, i.e. links will appear like:
		wap.mydomain.com/uadmin/main
   rather than
		wap.mydomain.com/main.php?u=admin
These are safer for a WAP site, as some WAP browsers have difficulty dealing with
the ?,=, and + symbols used in the standard URLs. To do this, open the .htaccess file in
the wapgallery folder using Notepad or a similar text editor. In the final line replace
www.mydomain.com with your domain, then delete the # at the start of line.
You can use 'Edit Settings' on the Control Panel to enable slash-separated URLs.
